Job Description
As Technical Director at Speed Identity, you will be responsible for defining and governing the technical vision, product strategy, and long-term technology roadmap. Your primary focus is to ensure that Speed Identity’s biometric solutions remain secure, competitive, and scalable while aligning technical capabilities with commercial objectives.
We are looking for a leader who creates innovation through others. You will provide the structure, clarity, and technical governance required as we expand further into international and regulated markets. As a member of the leadership team, you will drive cross-functional collaboration and translate strategic intent into sustainable technical execution.
Your responsibilities include:
Defining and maintaining the company’s technical vision, product strategy, and multi-year technology roadmap.
Leading and developing the technical organization, including Software Development, QA, Product Management, and Engineering functions.
Owning architectural standards and governance across software, hardware, and integrated systems.
Establishing robust processes, quality management standards, and continuous improvement mechanisms.
Partner with the Sales Director to align product direction with market opportunities and bid strategies.
Ensure effective handoffs and collaboration between Product, Operations, and Service & Support.
Overseeing risk management related to technology, cybersecurity, and product reliability.
Managing people leadership and HR-related topics, including performance management, development, and succession planning.
Promoting Speed Identity’s core values—Trust, Integrity, Collaboration, and Ownership—within the technical organization.
Required skills and competencies:
Executive-level leadership with a proven ability to lead complex, multi-disciplinary technical organizations.
Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align technical direction with business outcomes.
Deep understanding of software architecture, systems engineering, and integrated hardware/software products.
Governance and decision-making skills in regulated and security-sensitive environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at the executive and board level.
A risk management mindset, particularly regarding cybersecurity and product compliance.
Change leadership and organizational design capabilities.
Financial acumen for budgeting, investment prioritization, and ROI evaluation.
To succeed in the role, we see that you have:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
10–15 years of experience in senior technical or engineering leadership roles.
Proven track record of defining product and technology strategy in B2B or enterprise technology environments.
Experience leading hardware/software integrated product organizations.
Background in regulated industries (e.g., biometrics, identity, security, medical device or public sector solutions) is highly desirable.
Demonstrated leadership experience.

Team: Leads the Software Development Manager, Engineering team (QA, Mechanical and Systems Engineering) and Product Management. Maintains close dotted-line collaboration with Operations and Commercial leadership.
